I still haven't started cutting out or sewing Jaxson's Halloween costume yet. Who knows, Halloween might even be cancelled thanks to Frankenstorm aka Hurricane Sandy. While my husband had a much needed night out with the guys this weekend, I got cozy with some pumpkin beer, episodes of Parenthood, and my travel art kit.
Ok, I didn't pull out my sketching supplies until I got tired of playing Bejeweled Blitz, the ultimate time suck. I'm glad I did though. I couldn't find my sketchbook, so I grabbed my stash of index card dividers. Normally I would have searched until I found my sketchbook but I made myself stop. Why waste art time searching for supplies when alternatives are readily available?
I was inspired by the beautiful fall leaves, so free form sketched one to paint. I left my stash of leaves in the car, which hubby had taken for his night out. Then I started drawing a mandala but I guess I fizzled out at the end. It made me happy to paint bright bold, colors onto a plain manila colored card.
I enjoyed a quiet evening to myself. I really should make these artist dates a regular occurrence.
I can tell the kids have been itching to paint too. I guess that will have to be an activity while we're cooped inside during the storm. Did I mention there's no school for the next two days?
Did you do anything creative this weekend?
