Breaking Glass Is A Little Scary But Fun

I've been moaning about how I haven't had time to do anything crafty recently. Thank goodness I cleared my schedule to attend Tots2Tweens' Meet a Mom LIVE! event at Amazing Art Studio in Gaithersburg. I got to learn how to create a fused glass art project! Ok, the art studio does the fusing, but the creating is all mine.

I convinced my friend Kim to come as my date. She deserved a night out, away from the hustle and bustle of parenting and homeschooling. She picked these awesome blues for her piece.

Justice Fergie was our first casualty of the night and cut her finger during our practice session. She got a princess bandage for her boo boo.

Our second casualty was Jessica of A Parent in Silver Spring and her totally new awesome blog, A Parent in America! There were plenty of other local bloggers there. I didn't get a picture of everyone, but it was good to see Amy of TeachMama, Stephanie, Robin (and Robin's friend), Amanda and I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting someone. Don't be mad at me!

Don't worry, cutting glass isn't dangerous at all! We got a lesson on how to use our tools properly and the studio's owner, Lynda promised that at least one of us would cut our finger. Because you know, glass is sharp. She was a hoot! I loved Lynda's attitude. It's obvious she loved what she does and she has fun doing it! The above is my piece before I turned it in to be fired. I went for an abstract look. I hope it comes out good!

Even though I'm a contributor for Tots2Tweens, I was not obligated to write about my night out.  Amazing Art Studio provided us with complimentary supplies and instruction for the fused glass project. All opinions are my own. I have to say, that place was pretty cool! They offer not just fused glassed (for little ones too) but offer ceramic painting as well. Plus Lynda was pretty freaking funny.
